Eneref Expands Federal Outreach

Eneref’s New Outreach Liaison for Government Affairs to Educate Federal Agencies on the Benefits of Natural Interior Daylight

Philadelphia, PA – August 8, 2017 — Eneref Institute, an international research organization dedicated to sustainable development and advocacy, is proud to announce that Eric Huffman has been selected as Eneref’s Outreach Liaison for Government Affairs in Washington DC for Eneref’s Natural Interior Daylight initiative. Huffman will work across federal government agencies to educate Washington on the benefits of daylighting as a primary light source.

Huffman is a prominent daylighting industry advocate and was first appointed a Senior Fellow with Eneref Institute in 2014. In his new role, Huffman will work with federal departments and agencies as well as grassroots and grasstops advocacy; and develop strategic partnerships in Washington DC. His work will ensure that Eneref maintains a very sharp focus and places consistent emphasis on public policy, yielding even better results for building occupants.

This expansion to Eneref Institute’s Natural Interior Daylight initiative is part of a new strategic campaign, branded #RightToDaylight, which is scheduled to launch in September 2017, with a focus on media outreach and public policy. The #RightToDaylight campaign expands Eneref’s traditional role to encourage community-based activities in education and civic leadership.

Eneref Institute’s Natural Interior Daylight initiative works in collaboration with leading industry stakeholders, including Covestro, CentiMark, VELUX, Acuity Brands, Kingspan Light + Air, Alanod, and Solatube. In addition, the #RightToDaylight strategic plan envisions an expanded communications role and the creation of strategic partnerships with media and other advocacy organizations.

“We’re delighted Eric will lead our ongoing efforts in Washington to advance our public service mission in this expanded leadership role,” shared Seth Warren Rose, founding director of Eneref Institute. “As one of the nation’s most accomplished leaders in the daylighting marketplace, Eric has been an inspiration in Eneref Institute’s advocacy work and has played an instrumental role in our ongoing drive to promote the benefits of quality-manufactured daylighting systems, improved health and human performance with daylighting, and the benefit of energy savings.”

Huffman will work to educate public policy leaders and champion Eneref Institute’s current efforts with the Department of Defense, the General Service Administration, and Eneref’s collaborative work with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.

“I’m honored by the opportunity to share with Washington’s influencers the lessons I’ve learned over 20 years within the daylighting industry and look forward to continuing to build support and momentum and advocate on behalf of the best that the industry has to offer,” Huffman said.
